Alta Swinford MA, LMHC
Alta is a psychotherapist trained in systems theory. She has a master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science – Systems Counseling from Bastyr University. Systems counseling embraces each client as an individual living system. It examines how clients’ memberships in other living systems (such as family, friends, co-workers, partnerships, etc.) interrelate, influence, and impact each other. It is her overall aim to enhance quality of life for individuals and families.
Alta’s clients’ needs and goals set the focus of the counseling sessions. She works together with her clients to use their insights and resilience to examine life events, to help guide them to wisdom and balance. While recognizing the potential for change, an exploration of clients’ life experience is provided in a caring environment. She dedicates herself to serving the best interests of each client.
Alta has worked with many diverse populations over her decade of experience, including women and families, veterans, military members and their families. She believes each of us posses the capacity for wellness and wholeness and that all people are valuable, unique and should be treated with dignity and respect.
