Hi everyone, my name is Karli DuBois! My pronouns are she/her and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. I provide therapy services at our Edmonds location in person and via telehealth for folx aged 13+ who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma impacts, and family of origin difficulties. I earned my Master’s of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree from Bastyr University and am working towards independent licensure under the supervision of Rebekah Verdugo, LICSW, SUDP. When I am not in office, I’m likely on a walk with my dog or curled up with a good book!

I am committed to creating a supportive and encouraging environment that caters to each individuals’ goals and needs. As the client is the expert of themselves, my role is to offer guidance and questions along your therapeutic journey to embrace learning more about your authentic self. Especially after years of my own therapy and finishing my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, I view therapy as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves – deepening our understanding of the ways we process, self-regulate, cope, react, and self-advocate can aid in calming our nervous system and furthering our sense of self. In the words of Gabor Maté, “the process of therapy is essentially about connecting with the parts of ourselves that we have lost touch with. It’s about reconnecting with our inner self and our inner wisdom, which have always been there but may have been overshadowed by external pressures and internal conflicts.” Because healing looks different for everyone, I make an effort to incorporate flexibility and creativity in the therapeutic process to nurture self-exploration. Whether a new skill or meditation would be beneficial in the moment, therapeutic processes can evolve with us as we are forever evolving.

My therapeutic perspective draws from client-centered care, polyvagal theory, and a strengths-based approach. Although our therapeutic journeys are personal and unique to each and every one of us, I believe in providing care through a trauma-informed lens that acknowledges resiliency, strength, growth, and healing. By looking at the individual as a whole, collaborative care can foster new areas of change, focus, and skills to aid in further personal growth and thus growth of our community. I continue to acknowledge that there are often things out of our control and therefore work from a feminist theory perspective that recognizes the realities, pressures, stressors, and systems our society encourages. Unfortunately at times we are left to do the best with what we have, and I am here to help you unpack and understand what that is for you. I look forward to meeting you and working together on your journey toward healing and self-discovery!
