Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
[ REDMOND MEDICAL | accepting new clients ]
It has been said that “Even the longest journey starts with a single step.” If you are dealing with mental health challenges, it can often seem like an arduous journey and I am here to help. As your Psychiatrist, I will be working closely with you and your family throughout your journey. Often, dealing with mental health issues involves addressing family dynamics, home and school environments, traumas, family histories, and coping mechanisms. This can be a complex process and often requires a multi-layered approach in treatment. In some cases, it could mean using medications. On the other hand, medications alone may not address your concerns, or may not be needed at all. As such, I will also work closely with your therapist and other health care providers to ensure you have the care that will help you through your journey. My training has focused on understanding the ‘Mind-Body-Spirit’ connection and how these interconnected concepts can present as mental health symptoms. In choosing me as your Psychiatrist, you can be assured that you will have someone who will work hard to understand all the issues and concerns you have and will develop a comprehensive plan to help you along your journey.
I was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona and received my undergraduate degree from Arizona State University. I obtained my medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in California. I chose Osteopathic medicine as I feel the philosophy has a better understanding of connections and applies a holistic approach to medicine. I started my Psychiatry internship and residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals in Illinois and completed my residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the Ohio State University in Ohio. I am a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and I am board certified in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I am state of Washington ‘Center of Excellence’ for the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders. I am on the faculty at Pacific Northwest University and Washington State University and regularly teach medical students, residents, and other medical professionals. In addition, I am on staff at Overlake Medical Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital. I have been in practice since 2004 and have worked in a variety of settings including emergency mental health, community mental health, and correctional mental health. I have been living in the Seattle area since 2011 and was voted a ‘Top Doc’ in Seattle for 2021.
I specialize in treatment and services for children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-18). I am interested in assessing both the patient and family dynamics to create a holistic and behavioral approach to Psychiatry. Treatment modalities include medication management, partnering with therapists and schools, and building stronger families. In addition, I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults with Developmental Disorders, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s, and LGBTQ+ related issues. I am an avid science fiction aficionado, Star Trek enthusiast, and friend to animals.
