Mike Mugo is a provider at our Federal Way clinic, offering psychiatry services both in-person and via telehealth. He specializes in managing mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, substance use, and other related disorders through therapeutic interventions such as CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing. Mike is also able to prescribe or adjust medications targeting mood and various symptoms, including low mood, suicidal ideation, poor sleep, poor appetite, low energy, poor concentration, and cravings for substances or alcohol. He may recommend genetic testing to more accurately identify medications that work best for each client, especially in cases where side effects or responses are problematic.

His ideal clients are those struggling with mood disorders, whether unipolar or bipolar, as well as psychotic disorders, anxiety, or attention deficit disorder diagnoses. Additionally, they may face substance or alcohol use disorders, persistent suicidal thoughts, self-injurious behavior, sleep disturbances, low energy, and poor appetite. Beyond ensuring safety from self-harm, they require support with medication adjustments to stabilize and improve mood, reduce distress from psychosis or substance use, and enhance their ability to function, eat, and sleep well.

For clients dealing with low mood, safety concerns, complicated grief, or trauma issues, Mike provides a safe space where they can seek help in a judgment-free environment. He aims to create a personalized plan of care that may include therapy, medications, or both, all geared towards identifying an accurate diagnosis and treatment according to their needs. Mike strives to foster a caring environment that accommodates everyone and ensures the client remains the central focus of all interventions. His approach is driven by the belief that mental health is a human right, and all clients deserve to be heard and receive the help they need using the latest evidence-based practices.
