Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
Hi there! My name is Daniela Chong and I am a counselor at the Bothell clinic. My background is in counseling psychology with focuses on mental health, social justice, and minority populations. Although I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I consider myself to be an eclectic counselor because I take approaches from different theories. I value flexibility in counseling and I believe that there is no “one-size-all” approach because everyone is vastly different. I have experience working with all ages but I particularly enjoy working with youth and college-age individuals. I believe that starting a therapeutic journey at a young age is necessary for building a good foundation for adult life. I am bilingual English-Spanish and I offer services in both languages.
Although I take a client-centered approach to therapy, I am not afraid to challenge behaviors and thoughts that feed into negative patterns. I believe therapy is collaborative and will often render good outcomes if people are open to making tangible changes. Utilizing methods from cognitive behavioral therapy and psychotherapy, we will work together to get at the root of the problem and set small achievable goals. I believe that even small wins are important and will lead to significant differences in people’s lives. As a clinician, my role is to listen without judgment and provide a safe space for people to open up. I put great emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship with clients and I highly value feedback from those I see.
I have always had great interest in people’s ability to improve their own lives and I am happy to be a part of my clients’ journeys. I look forward to helping guide you to a fruitful and happy future.
