Joya Goodhue-Hilbert, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

My name is Joya and I offer therapy services at our Tacoma, WA clinic.

I am a licensed mental health counselor with a strong background in social work and somatics. I work from a perspective of person-in-environment, considering the social and environmental effects on a person as well as sources of systemic oppression that contribute to life challenges. My focus is trauma work, particularly women’s and children’s issues through the lifespan. I bring somatic awareness to my work with clients, helping them ground themselves in their bodies and anchoring identity within their various senses. My goal is to help my clients feel safe and peaceful while discovering their empowerment.

I help my clients develop their goals and then we work to achieve those goals utilizing a variety of theories and techniques. I am client-focused and allow my clients to guide their process, adding my skills and wisdom where it fits best. We can follow a solution-focused process to solve real world problems or explore stress management techniques.

Today, people need a place to be heard and seen as their real selves. Therapy can be a place to feel accepted and validated, even honored. It is a process of self-discovery and empowerment as well as a place to experiment. Working through trauma allows a person to come home to themselves. Therapy is a place to remember and renew with a guide for support.
