Mike Kippes, PhD

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST, SENIOR CONSULTANT

Dr. Kippes has been a licensed clinical psychologist since 1988. He completed undergraduate training in Colorado, beginning with Chemistry and Biology at the University of Northern Colorado. He further developed a background in Analytical and Biochemistry before completing a second Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Colorado State University. He then received his masters and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Washington State University, and he completed his internship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Kippes then completed an NIH post-doctoral fellowship in pain management at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center with a concurrent emphasis on the neuropsychology of cancer-related issues and the pharmacology of pain management. He worked extensively with cancer patients on methods of reducing treatment side effects and had a private therapy and consultation practice in Seattle. He also later worked with seriously and persistently mentally ill clients with and without chemical dependency issues at a community mental health center in South King County. Prior to retiring in 2016, Dr. Kippes was in private practice in Redmond for nearly 20 years working with clients who were experiencing emotional concerns, such as depression, anger, anxiety, or panic attacks, stress-related difficulties (and accompanying physical symptoms), low self-esteem, and traumatic life changes, as well as grief and loss issues. He also had a special interest in assisting patients in coping with physical health changes and chronic pain and illness, including life-threatening illness and its treatment. Dr. Kippes worked with individuals, couples, and groups, including dealing with alcohol and substance use problems, recovery issues, and relapse prevention. He is experienced with neuropsychological assessment of all age groups as young as seven years. He currently consults with, instructs, and supervises advanced graduate students and post-doctorate fellows in psychological testing and assessment and is particularly involved in special topics for neuropsychological assessment.
