FAMILY PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER, MEDICAL RESOURCE DIRECTOR
[ REDMOND MEDICAL | closed to new clients ]
Hello! I am a Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, board certified to provide mental health care for all ages (6+ for ADHD, 7+ for other). I enjoy the variety of working with clients throughout the lifespan, and have additional training and specialization in child, adolescent, and young adult psychiatric care. Other areas of focus include sexual and gender minority clients, women’s mental health, chronically ill children and adolescents, and trauma-informed care. I provide evidence-based, collaborative medication management as well as brief therapeutic interventions to complement the psychological treatment you are receiving at LightHeart.
I received my Masters of Nursing degree from the University of Washington and began practicing in 2014; continuing at the UW, I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2015. I participated in an adolescent health fellowship during my nurse practitioner training. I have also attended the University of Virginia and Carleton College in Minnesota. My professional experiences include adolescent medicine, transgender care, pediatrics, corrections, and community health. I have volunteer experience working with detained youth, teaching sexual health education, and caring for newly-arrived immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.
During your first appointment, we will go over your presenting mental health symptoms, your psychiatric and medical history, and your life course and experiences. If medication treatment is recommended, we will discuss what options are available, and your input will be key to our final decision. Sometimes I order laboratory testing to ensure there is not a medical problem underlying your mental health symptoms, and depending on your current and proposed medications, I may also order an EKG. Return visits may involve medication management, brief therapeutic interventions, health education, health coaching, or a combination of these elements. I will be working closely with your psychological treatment provider and am happy to collaborate with your primary medical provider or other medical specialists in order to make your care as holistic and tailored as possible.
