Jed Savard, PsyD
Dr. Jed Savard, Psy.D., is a post-doctoral psychology fellow specializing in the psychological evaluation and therapeutic treatment of children, adolescents, and emerging adults. He brings to Lightheart an array of experience and a passion for understanding each client’s life experience and how the client can be best supported individually and, in their family, school, and community. He is trained and experienced in assessing behavioral, emotional, neuropsychological, and academic difficulties and works hard to find the right solutions to meet each client’s best development and goals.
Jed works from a foundational perspective that each person is transitioning through an individual and global stage of development at any time in life. Coupled with the familial, cultural, and societal influences and expectations, this individual development is at times difficult and misunderstood. Jed works with each client to find clarity in who they are and how they can best be supported in meeting their current level of development.
Jed has a strong interest in working with children and adolescents that grow up in exceptional situations, cultures, or families. He completed a psychology internship residency on the island of Kauai, HI where he was afforded the unique opportunity to work with the Kauaian children and adolescents within the Hawaiian public-school system to assist in their development within distinctive cultural and familial needs and responsibilities while also assimilating into the encroaching American culture. He enjoyed working with and learning from the Polynesian-American youth and their families. Prior to working in Hawaii, he also completed his novel research project of developing a new psychotherapeutic approach to anger and aggression for adolescents while working and training in the Washington school system.
