Faraha Hasan, MS, LMHCA
PSYCHOLOGY DOCTORAL STUDENT COUNSELOR
[ assessment team + limited therapy openings ]
Faraha is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and earned her MS degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas. She is a fifth-year doctoral student who provides psychotherapy and assessment services to individuals under the supervision of Dr. Bonner Dobbs. Faraha takes a relational approach in her work, drawing heavily from multicultural and feminist frameworks.
Her first goal with her clients is to build a foundation of trust and comfort. She believes that a person’s cultural context impacts their presenting concerns and treatment, and she aims to affirm personal identities and experiences. Her therapeutic approach also aims to validate the systems and circumstances that prevent us from living a fulfilling life.
Faraha works with clients who are navigating depression, anxiety, stress, interpersonal difficulties, ADHD, multicultural concerns, and identity-based stress and trauma. Faraha uses mindfulness, relational-cultural theory (RCT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). She will apply a variety of therapeutic techniques to adapt to each client’s specific needs and goals.
